Public Advocacy
IRI’s principals have been at the forefront of numerous policy battles, ranging from international trade disputes to high-profile infrastructure investments, M&A approvals, tax regulations and legislation affecting the country’s food supply.
We’ve helped some of the best-known companies and trade associations in energy, telecommunications, insurance and agriculture navigate the policy world.
The Issue: Mexico broke U.S. trade law and flooded the U.S. market with subsidized goods. As a result, one domestic industry lost more than $4 billion and was forced to shutter factories and lay off U.S. workers.
The Task: We partnered with a well-known law firm to present the case to U.S. trade courts, elected officials and the public to halt Mexico’s unlawful acts and save the industry.
The Effort: By working with a coalition of third-party supporters, targeting advertisements to key decision-makers, placing positive stories in key news outlets and reaching elected officials at a grassroots level, we quickly elevated the visibility of the issue and the urgency for resolution.
The Result: Mexico was found guilty and forced to halt its unfair trade actions, saving an important industry from unfair trade practices and saving American jobs. The effort culminated with a positive tweet from the White House along with acknowledgements from powerful lawmakers.
